September, 2009

Hey Everyone!!!

Wow September is now here, fall is around the corner, and soon I will get to go snowmobiling again! I am starting back at university for my 4th and final year at Wilfrid Laurier, finishing my Political Science degree. It is a very exciting time right now with that, but I am also sad that we have now come to the end of the racing season for another year.

Racing in the F2000 Championship Series this year has been a blast, all the while having its ups and downs. Getting to experience many different tracks this year has definitely broadened my horizons. While the highs of the season were great: being P1 at Mosport on the first day of practice, my top ten finishes and meeting Danica Patrick. The lows, while they do happen, were a good learning experience to take forth in future racing.

The final race weekend at Mid-Ohio was a good weekend. I really enjoyed racing the track, just as much as I hoped. It was definitely as exciting as I was expecting. In learning the track though, it did take a little longer than I had anticipated. Turn one is very interesting the way that it goes under the bridge, and madness, is for sure hard to get a handle on for the first few laps. Once I got the hang of it though, it was a great track to race on.

Currently though, my main focus, is our last weekend race in the Ontario Formula Ford Challenge. It will be held at Mosport September 19-20th. I am sitting in third place in the championship going into the last weekend, and it’s going to be a nail bitter. The spread is forty points between second place and third, and eighteen between third and fourth place.

I am very excited though about some news that I just received. A few months back, I had an interview for an article that was going to go into Inside Track Magazine. Well it has been published! Inside Track is a major racing publication for Canada, with a lot of content about Canadian racers. Everyone can visit the Inside Track website at www.insidetrackmagazine.com.

I want to thank the Z-Sport Midwest team for all their hard work this year. It has been an awesome season, through the highs and lows. Also, I would like to thank the F2000 Championship series team. Without them, there would not be such a fantastic series to race in. The series would not be the same without you guys. Lastly, I would like to thank my competitors. You guys are an awesome bunch to race with and the level of competition is great.

‘Til next time,
Caitlin
