2009 F2000 Season Kicks Off at VIR
April, 2009
Caitlin Johnston, 20 of Orangeville, Ontario, had her first race weekend at Virginia International Raceway, Danville, Virginia on April 9 - 11, 2009 in the F2000 Championship Series with excellent results. A 12th place finish in Friday's rain race, and a top ten in Saturday's race, while also receiving the hard charger recognition for passing the most cars, capped off an awesome weekend. “Working with the Z-Sports Midwest team this past weekend was excellent. The team works really well together, and the car is a dream to drive. I was a little nervous going into the weekend and learning a new, unfamiliar track, but with a substantial amount of track time and a great car to drive, everything came together really well. I expect to get faster as the season progresses". The next race weekend with the F2000 Championship series is May 22 - 25, 2009 at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut.
In addition to racing the F2000 Series Championship this upcoming race season, she plans on running a full schedule with the Ontario Formula Ford Challenge. "I am really excited about running in the Formula Ford for my third year. It is an excellent series with great competition. With the extra track time between F2000 races, I anticipate that it will help hone my skills in both series. We are definitely looking forward to a great season ahead of us." The opening weekend for the OFFC is May 9 - 10, 2009 at Mosport International Raceway, Bowmanville, Ontario.
